…took it very easy. Slept in. Stayed in our PJs to an embarrassingly late hour. Drank dry soda and ate ice cream at the park with our Cub Scout pack:

It seems fitting that this post ends with a sunset photo because this was our final week of summer vacation. I really can not believe how quickly the time passed! The beginning of a new school year is always bittersweet. I am looking forward to fall but also trying to squeeze out a little more summertime too. I need a few more warm morning runs. Homemade jam. Dinner picnics at the lake. I need more!

One of my last posts was about being busy. Then I skipped a couple of photo series posts because I got wrapped up in other things. I would say that I was too "busy" to get to them but that isn't entirely true. Truthfully, I was doing many other things but also choosing to take little breaks in my day to breath instead of trying to fill every moment of time with productivity. I am not good at that but I'm getting better! We have been spending a lot of time running errands, cleaning house, and keeping up with the various tasks of life. There are only a few weeks left of summer vacation and I'm trying my hardest to make sure that we have plenty of fun built into our days.

…went to the California State Fair:

…went to the "big movies" to see Despicable Me 2 (super cute):


…baked Despicable Me cupcakes for a friend's birthday party:


…went to swimming lessons with our favorite swim teachers:

This post is a little late. July has been zooming by at record pace. Our calendar has been a series of "what's next?" moments! I turned 40 years old on Monday (more on that soon) and we had family visiting most of the week.

…I attended my first WDS (World Domination Summit), saw some really inspirational speakers, visited with a friend (wonderful visit that included a life-changing ice cream cone!), and made new friends in Portland Oregon:

…had some wacky weather that started with clouds and rain:




…then the sky cleared and the weather turned into really hot days (108+ degrees), sending us outside in small doses:




…took our dog to the vet and learned that she isn't the Brittany Spaniel and Border Collie mix that we suspected! She is actually a very rare (in North America) breed called a kooikerhondje! We feel like we found a Picasso painting at a yard sale with this sweet and beautiful dog!
